The drive and the setup. Ack.

You have to understand that neither of us have ever hauled a trailer. We are truly newbies at this.

The drive from Boerne to San Angelo is about a 3 hour drive --- if you drive the posted limit of 75 or 80 mph. Yeah right. Like THAT'S gonna happen with a trailer. We ended up taking about 4 hours. But that included a stop for lunch along the way.

Did I mention how awesome it is to have your own potty on the road?? Grin. And it is clean! No more icky rest stops. Sweet.

Almost as nice is the ability to eat your McDonalds chicken sandwich lunch in peace and quiet at your own table. No more screamin' mimies at the next table.

As for driving, I haven't gotten to try it yet. But I sure could feel the diff that the trailer makes -- even as a passenger. Max did very well as the driver ... No freak outs (as one friend asked) and very few white knuckle moments .... Even when maneuvering around the big rigs at the McDs. He's a handy dude to have along. :)

We got to the San Angelo KOA and into our spot. Then the setup began. We were doing really well with the setup (thank goodness for the electric tongue jack), right up until it came time to get the trailer off the ball of the truck. One phone call to the rental place and the really nice guy on the other end patiently walked us thru it. Dang, I wish I had paid closer attention when the guy was showing me that earlier! Wry grin. Ah well.

After we got that sorted, leveling and hooking up went very well. Whew!

And then we started moving all the stuff from the truck to the trailer. Imagine setting up your house from scratch here. Cause that is basically what we did. Many thanks to Mom for putting together the kitchen for me. We actually have quite a bit of storage .... But we still brought too much stuff!

Once we get a little more straightened out in here, I'll post some pics of the inside. We can get around inside, but it still looks pretty jumbled!

Oh, for those of you that are wondering, the girls are settling in nicely.

More later.

Cheers! Dr J
