All set up and ready to play!

The Johnson's and the O's are all setup at El Dorado reservoir and ready to play this holiday weekend! Notice the canopies in the center..... Makes a great place for the picnic tables. More importantly, it is a great place for the guys to set up and do breakfast. Ron has already cooked the bacon and Max is slaving over the griddle to cook the eggs. What a way to start the weekend!

Nice Setup at Council Grove

The setup here at Council Grove is pretty nice for a couple of reasons. First, the campsites are very nice. This is a view standing lakeside and looking back at our campsite.

Nice! The picnic table is concrete and huge! And it is set on a nice level concrete pad. And, even better, it has an awesome cover. Granted, the actual site where we parked the fifth wheel wasn't very level--it had a serious slope towards the water. But we managed. And it was paved, which is a bonus. These sites also have water and electricity but alas, no sewer.

The second nice thing bout this setup is the meals. In this group the tradition is that the guys cook breakfast. I REALLY like that tradition! Grin. Here are Kenny, Ron, Robbie, and Max with their griddles lined up and cooking this morning. A breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and bacon is a great way to start the day!

But now we are all loaded up and headed for home. At least it is only a 2 hour drive this time. :)

Looking forward to our next adventure already!

Camping Life

So you may be wondering exactly what we do when we go camping with friends......

Quite honestly, yesterday was a slow moving, didn't really do anything, kind of day.  We spent most of the day piddling around, setting up things. It isn't enough that we deck out the inside of our trailers, we have to deck out the outside as well. Apparently, that is some sort of unwritten RVers rule. Grin. So out came the light balls and strings, the lawn chairs, the wind chimes, coolers, end tables, grills..... Well you can name it and probably one of us will have it!

We spent some time in the town of Council Grove (population 2182) yesterday.  In that small of a town, you can imagine that it doesn't take a heckuva lot of time to tour the entire town. We did go back into town last night for dinner. We ended up at a place called the Hays House. It was established along the Santa Fe Trail in 1857 by Seth Hays, who was Daniel Boone's great grandson. It is the longest continuously operated restaurant west of the Mississippi. And they serve an awesome chicken fried steak!

Today was spent cruising around the lake. No floating on this trip as the water was waaaaay too chilly. Then tonite was burgers and dogs on the grill. Yummy.

So what do the girls do to while away the evening? Well, crafts of course! Here are Judy and Nancy working on a chainmaille bracelet.
And the guys setup a tv outside and watch a little Chiefs football!  Ah, the rigors of roughing it when camping out.  Grin.

A Mini Adventure

We are off on another adventure.... Well, a mini adventure anyway as we are spending a long weekend at Council Grove reservoir with friends. This is the view from the back of the trailer. Sweet, eh?! Grin.
