Spring Flowers

This spring some of the flowers around my house are of the chainmaille kind.  Seriously!

This Japanese 6 in 1 chainmaille pattern ends up looking like a series of 5 flowers all linked together.  It is just stunning!  If you want to learn more about this bracelet, you can find it in my shop.

And of course, gotta have some eye-catching earrings to go with the bracelet, right?!  Find them here.

Byzantine Pattern Bracelet

Yep, I'm really loving that Byzantine pattern in a chainmaille bracelet.....  This is a copper bracelet that I just finished and posted.

It looks substantial because of the densely packed weave.  But because of the wire that I used, it feels really lightweight on your wrist.

Yes, I'm doing other chainmaille weaves too!  I'll get to them in the coming days.

Chainmaille Isn't Just for 16 Year Old Goths

Chainmaille jewelry isn't just for 16 year old goths anymore!

I've been experimenting with a variety of chainmaille techniques - and am loving them all!

The pic at right is called the byzantine pattern.  And I've made it with multi-color aluminum jump rings.  It looks heavy but, because of the aluminum, it is VERY lightweight.  I've worn it a lot the past few days and have gotten tons of compliments.

I've recently started a new section in my stop called Stunning Chainmaille.  Click on the hi-lited words and it should take you directly there.  I'll be adding more pieces every day for the next few days.

Happy shopping!  But don't forget to come back here and let me know what you think.

Springtime!

I absolutely adore springtime -- even though in Kansas it might mean tornado sirens. Despite that, it is just an awesome time of year. Why? Well let's see..... There is March Madness (go Shockers!); the hyacinths are blooming and they smell amazing; and a new golf season has commenced. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Wire Wrapped Bangle

I love, love, LOVE wire wrapped bangle bracelets!  Here's one that I posted in my shop today.

They are a wonderful example of free-form art.  Even in arts and crafts, there are often "rules" of the form.  Some days, that's fine.  And some days?  Not so much.  On those days, I create wire bangle bracelets.

It gives a chance for me to be creative.... in whatever form creativity takes for that day or for that moment.

And I get to sculpt wire into wonderfully fantastic shapes, swoops, and swirls.  That will NEVER become boring!

And I love wearing these bracelets.  Yep, they are bigger than the bracelets that I normally wear.  But oh my goodness, these bangles really start conversations and attract attention.

So if you would like this bracelet -- or want to see more views of it -- follow this link:

And if you would like to see more wire bangle bracelets in other awesome colors, just go to the "Fun and Funky Bracelets" section of my shop.  There are 8 or 9 other wire bangle bracelets at this link:

Pros and Cons

So here I am ... Again. Starting yet another blog. Why? It isn't like I don't have a thing or ten to do. I know, I know. I'm retired. So everyone thinks I have tons of time on my hands. Some days, yes. Somedays, not.

So to answer the question of why..... I want to promote my business (www.drjdesigns.etsy.com),
I'm told that blogging is a great way to do that. Now let's see if I can talk myself out of this.......

Pros:

will likely send people to my web site, hopefully people who will buy something. And people who will share the link to my site over and over again. In case you missed it, www.drjdesigns.etsy.com.

Can use it as a place to share whatever I feel like talking about.

It could be fun!

Cons:

Who has the time to read this?

Who has the time to keep it up to date.

What if no one reads what I have to say?
